Easy Oatmeal Breakfast

Let me start by saying, I love oatmeal. I could eat it everyday, and I almost do. Honestly, I create so many different variations of this because I usually try and use whatever fruit I have or I get bored or something and change it up. The best part is that this is nutritious, filling, and healthy!

OATMEAL BASE:

+ 1/2 C Gluten free rolled oats

+ 1 TBSP Ground flaxseed

+1 TBSP Chia seeds

+ Dash of cinnamon

+1 C Water

+ 1 Spoonful Peanut butter or other nut butter (optional)

+ 1/4 C Vanilla Greek yogurt (optional)

Let me preface by saying – I am not a doctor or nutritionist, but from my own personal experience, using flaxseed and chia seeds in my oatmeal have helped my stomach from bloating and/or being upset in the morning.

HEALTH BENEFITS OF FLAXSEED

+ Omega-3 Essential Fatty Acids – “Good” fats that have shown to have heart healthy effects.

+ Lignans – Which have both plant estrogen and and antioxidant qualities.

+ Fiber – Flaxseed contains both soluble and insoluble fibers.

HEALTH BENEFITS OF CHIA SEED

+ Loaded with antioxidants, which fight the production of free radicals.

+ Low carb-friendly food.

+ Excellent source of protein.

+ 40% fiber by weight, which makes them one of the best sources of fiber.

+ Contain more Omega-3 Fatty Acids than salmon.
